The Flat turf season kicks-off at Doncaster on Thursday, and, as a starter for the main course, two of tomorrow's three scheduled meetings will take place on the level.
The Polytrack at Lingfield and Southwell's Fibresand course provide a double-header of all-weather Flat action - and the opportunity for Smart Scot to extend his unbeaten record.
Four wins from four starts this year is the record of Brian Baugh's rejuvenated five-year-old, who goes to Southwell for the Bet Direct Banded Stakes over a mile.
With only six rivals, Smart Scot, with his confidence on a high and a particular liking for this track, should take all the beating in the hands of 5lb claimer Mark Savage.
Stillington trainer David Chapman will be in action at Doncaster on Saturday, saddling his Ayr Gold Cup winner Quito in the Lincoln Handicap.
Firstly, the evergreen handler travels to Southwell where On The Trail lines-up for the Bet In Running @ betdirect Banded Stakes over six furlongs.
The seven-year-old showed plenty of dash and courage to gain a short-head victory on his latest start at Wolverhampton.
Over the same distance tomorrow it would be no surprise to see the North Yorkshire gelding prevail again. Tony Culhane has the mount.
The consistent Samar Qand (3.10) is worth one more chance in the 11-furlongs event, while Galaxy Fallon (4.40), sure to have benefitted from a recent comeback outing after a lengthy absence, is also worth a second look in the concluding race.
Darryll Holland, runner-up to Kieren Fallon in last year's jockeys' championship on turf, has high hopes of going one better this season.
Holland has been riding the crest of a wave on the all-weather and the Newmarket-based pilot has good prospects of adding to his Lingfield tally tomorrow.
The consistent Spindor (2.30), trained by Jamie Osborne, can oblige for Holland in the first division of the six-furlongs handicap, while stablemate Regulated (3.30) also has a fighting chance in a modest contest.
Holland teams-up with True Companion (5.30), trained by Nick Littmoden in the concluding handicap and is fancied to steer this previous course winner to victory.
Richard Hughes is another jockey with understandable high hopes of the season ahead, when he will again be occupying the plum role as retained rider to Prince Khalid Abdulla.
Hughes, who spent an enjoyable stint in Japan during the winter, can make his mark at Lingfield aboard Double M (5.00), who is nothing if not consistent. Six furlongs around this track is ideal for this previous course winner, who is awarded my Nap vote.
Tomorrow's Tips:
Southwell
2.10 Lone Piper, 2.40 Our Destiny, 3.10 Samar Qand, 3.40 On The Trail, 4.10 Smart Scot, 4.40 Galaxy Fallon.
Lingfield
2.00 Sungio, 2.30 Spindor, 3.00 Torquemada, 3.30 Regulated, 4.00 Haithem, 4.30 Kryssa, 5.00 Double M (Nap), 5.30 True Companion.
Tomorrow's other meeting is at Exeter.
Tom O'Ryan's Nap for this afternoon's racing was: Cumbrian Princess (5.10 at Wolverhampton).
