A YORK man was recovering from facial surgery in hospital today after a woman allegedly glassed him during a bar room brawl.
The woman also received hospital treatment after she was knocked unconscious during the fight at The Corner House, at the junction of Burton Stone Lane and Cromer Street.
The pub remained cordoned off today as scenes-of-crime officers investigated the incident, which also involved several other drinkers.
Sergeant Colin Ventress, of York Police, said the man needed a large number of stitches to a "very nasty injury" on the side of his face.
The attack occurred at about 9.40 last night as horrified drinkers looked on. Both victims remained in York Hospital.
A Burton Stone Lane resident said police sealed off the pub's two entrances last night and there was lots of shouting outside the pub as emergency service vehicles arrived.
She said: "One guy had a bloody wound to his head. We don't know how it happened but some furniture was broken."
