Peter Niven, who ended a lengthy barren spell when Mister Friday won at Carlisle last week, returns his winner to the Cumbrian course tomorrow in the hope of completing a quick double.

Niven, now training at Barton-le-Street near Malton, remains best known for his achievements in the saddle. He is one of only eight jump-jockeys to have ridden more than 1,000 winners in Britain.

Now in his second year as a trainer, Niven went more than three months without a winner before Mister Friday hit the target on his latest outing under Graham Lee, who takes the mount again tomorrow.

The seven-year-old, pretty convincing in victory last time, looks to have excellent prospects of obliging again in the Colin Parker Memorial Novices' Chase and is awarded the nap vote.

Len Lungo rarely leaves his local Carlisle meeting without a share of the spotlight, and the Dumfries trainer has good chances with The Laird's Entry in the Hart Fell Handicap Chase.

This massive gelding produced a solid display to score at Ayr last Friday and looks a horse to keep on the right side for the time being. He can win again.

Tony Dobbin, rider of The Laird's Entry, can also succeed on Mazzareme in the second division of the Kirtle Water National Hunt Flat Race.

Trained by Nicky Richards, the six-year-old shaped really well on his debut here last month, staying on stoutly to finish third. The experience of that outing will not be wasted on him this time and he is fancied to promote himself to the number-one slot.

At Stratford, the Cheltenham-winning partnership of Nigel Twiston-Davies and Carl Llewellyn can lift the gg.com Novices' Hurdle with Dickensbury Lad.

A promising performer, Dickensbury Lad is a stable-mate of Fundamentalist, winner of Wednesday's Royal & SunAlliance Novices' Hurdle at the Festival.

Tony McCoy, who had to settle for a single winner at Cheltenham, has similar prospects of doing the same at Fontwell tomorrow.

The champion jockey can capture the Lara Sturgis Mares' Only Novices' Chase on Latitude, a four-lengths winner at Exeter last time.
