AMOTHERBY and Swinton won a dramatic delayed Leeper Hare York and District Junior League Cup quarter-final tie at neighbours Norton United.
They eventually went through 5-4 on a penalty shoot-out and will face Tockwith at York RI tonight with a place in the final against Poppleton at stake.
Matty Biggins and James Baxter put Amotherby 2-0 up but two Norton free kicks inside the last five minutes sent the game into extra time and with no further score Amotherby won the spot-kick shoot-out.
Poppleton reached the final by beating Strensall 3-1 under York RI's lights.
Matt Graham's solo goal after 25 minutes put dominant Poppleton ahead with Craig Suttle and Craig Theaker bossing the midfield.
Theaker increased the lead before the break and it needed solid defending from Ben Lister and Michael Lilly to keep Strensall at bay before Strensall pulled one back after 65 minutes.
However, James Barratt secured Pop's final spot with their third goal five minutes from time.
HONOURS were even in the big game in Reserve 'A' of Leeper Hare York and District League.
Kartiers and Malton Bacon Factory, second and third respectively, finished 3-3 with Wayne Coulthard (2) and Mark Mabbett on target for Kartiers while Factory's response came from Jamie Ward, Darryl Craggs and Tommy Oxtoby.
Dave Bradshaw opened the scoring for Old Malton after only two minutes against visitors Osbaldwick. Barry Popeley equalised on the hour but Bradshaw hit the winner for Malton 15 minutes later.
Andy Rose struck twice and Grant Tolworthy added a third for Dunnington as they won 3-1 at Pocklington, whose Colin Peach had opened the scoring.
Wigginton Black Horse cemented second place in Reserve 'B 'with a 3-0 home win against Barmby Moor with goals from Angus Clapham, Ben Petts and Tom Beattie.
Haxby fell 3-2 to near rivals Wigginton Grasshoppers, who scored two late goals to cancel out strikes from Mike Taylor and Chris Drummond.
Copmanthorpe lost ground after a 1-1 home draw against New Earswick. John Conroy scored for the visitors but Matt Pearson snatched Cop's equaliser near the end.
Moor Lane improved their chances of avoiding the drop from Reserve C with a 5 - 2 win at bottom of the table Civil Service. Simon Teal (2), Charlie Goodwin, Jamie Hurst and an opponent were on the scoresheet. Alistair Byrne netted both Service goals.
Brad Dunne netted a hat-trick as leaders Hamilton Panthers won 4-1 against White Horse. Jamie Dawe also scored for Panthers while David Marshall replied for White Horse.
Martin Rhodes of Thorpe United was another hat-trick man, helping his side to a 5-0 win at Riccall where Matty Hoyle and Michael Emmett were also on target.
Wilberfoss recovered from a 1-0 deficit to beat Hemingbrough with goals from Mark Hughes (2) and Ross Pooley.
Reserve 'D' leaders Tockwith thumped Norwich Union 7-0 with the goals from Graham Huchinson (2), Phil Blaney, James Ord, Simon Lewis, Phil Wardman and Jim Wardman.
Bottom club Norton took the lead at LNER Builders but goals from Adam Osguthorpe (2), Andy Sykes(2), and Liam King overhauled them.
Huby had goals from Dan Grainger, Paul Whitehead (penalty), Dave Brogan and an own goal to thank for their 4-2 win at York RI, whose Stephen Graham and Brian Morrison scored.
Andy Millward scored to give Fulford the half-time lead at Stillington, but the home side responded with second half goals from Philip Bell and Graham Morrison to win 2-1.
