In response to a significant growth in passenger demand, York bus operator First York has announced that it is improving its Turquoise Line 4, which runs between Acomb and the University of York at Heslington.
From Sunday the service will start earlier in the morning, run until later at night and operate on a more frequent basis.
The current basic daytime frequency will be improved to every eight minutes, but during the evenings and throughout Sundays the frequency will be doubled to every 15 minutes.
At the same time, the route the service will follow in Acomb will be changed.
While Blue Line 1 will continue to serve Chapelfields, the Turquoise Line will not.
Instead it will operate via Green Lane and The Green to a new terminus at Acomb Green, opposite the Sun Inn. From there it will operate back to Acomb via Wetherby Road, Ridgeway and Front Street, to rejoin the existing route back to the city.
