York City this afternoon made a double transfer swoop by signing young Newcastle United striker Richard Offiong and experienced midfielder Kevin Donovan, who has just been released from Rochdale.
Former England Youth and Under-20 International Offiong, 21, had a spell with City's Third Division rivals Darlington last season. He is to spend a month on loan at Bootham Crescent.
Donovan, 33, has played for Huddersfield , West Brom, Grimsby, and Barnsley. He is a right-side midfielder who should provide City manager Chris Brass with additional experience in that department following the departure of Lee Bullock to Cardiff and Justin Walker's return to Cambridge.
Both players are expected to feature in Saturday's home game with Torquay United. Full story in Saturday's Evening Press.
