"I'll be anything you want," sings Melissa Auf der Maur, "You love me more than you love yourself."
But with a name that drips Gothic style, the former Hole and Smashing Pumpkins bassist knows exactly who she wants to be.
The Canadian has brought together a zoo of talent from her former bands as well as Queens Of The Stone Age and defunct heavy metal rockers, Kyuss. She calls this going back to her roots, but these 12 records have been worn smooth during ten years in the creative mill.
The sound of horses introduces Skin Receiver with its galloping guitar riffs, while the more laid back Follow The Waves rises and falls in a satisfying swell of electric noise. There's nothing here to set you bouncing around the living room, but plenty of careful musicianship for the rock anoraks to lap up.
