EVERY new cub makes a solemn vow: "I promise to do my best." It may be years since the directors of Rawcliffe firm Roofs Above left the scouts, but they are still doing their best for the next generation.
The Wheldrake cub scout pack has been under siege from mindless vandals. Last week we reported how their hut roof was wrecked. Coming after they had raised money to put right three previous attacks, it was a rotten blow.
Today brought much better news. The Rawcliffe team were replacing the roof, and a Wheldrake tradesman has pledged to fix the windows and doors. Together they are doing much more than repair a hut - they are restoring the cubs' faith in human nature.
