COLIN Clarke cannot seriously compare public service broadcasting in Australia with that in Britain (Letters February 27).

In my opinion the BBC provides the best public service broadcasting in the world. For a licence fee of less than £2.25 per week we can receive two national television channels, including local news and magazines programmes; five national radio programmes, and local radio. In addition, with the purchase of a small box, satellite television programmes are available.

At a cost of slightly more than a pint of beer, this must be the best value for money anywhere.
