CYGNET 'A' inflicted the first defeat of the season on York John Smith's Ladies Darts League division one leaders Cueball 'B'.

Despite a superior tons tally of 11-2 the snooker club were humbled by Wendy and Angela Smith.

Cueball 'C' were snookered by a good team performance by Clifton. Michelle Britton slotted in four tons for Cygnet 'C' as Independent found them too hot to handle.

Anne Smith 100,138 inspired Holgate as they beat Phoenix 6-3.

Leeman 'B', who go joint top in division two, were prevented from a full house by Tang Hall WMC's Barbara Ward. Jean Smallwood closed on 83 for the victors.

Slip were three up before Sandra Pallister started a mini revival by Clifton, whose Linda Embleton levelled, but the joint leaders recovered to win the remaining games.

Jubilee scored a 6-3 win against a depleted Sun. Cath Roe was Burton Club's lone singles success as they lost out at Slipper. Cygnet sunk Britannia 6-3.

Division three front-runners Blacksmiths were too hot for Shepherd 'B' to handle, Beverley Lawson starring.

Julie Brownlee, with two tons, starred in Ebor's win against Vaults.

Second-placed Burnholme were beaten by club rivals Severus, Carol Robson partnering Jackie Simpson to victory.

Mitre had victory sewn up within the singles at Leeman 'A'.

Division four leaders Woolpack were taken to the wire by Leeman, whose Mary Dodsworth-Margaret Haley sealed the win.

Volunteer 'B' went on the rampage after Angie Cochrane and Shelly Lawrence had won the openers for Turf.

Puss lapped up Reindeer 7-2 and Volunteer 'A' made home advantage count against Cueball.

Jim Hawksby hit 121,100,135 for 16 darts as Beeswing went down to York John Smith's Mixed League division one leaders Huntington.

Cueball's John Smith (100 and 140) gamed in 18 and was well supported by Pete Leake, who partnered Michelle Britton to take the match points against Slipper 'B'.

Martyn Turner closed in 18 darts as Leeman defeated Cygnet 'B', whose Ally Wray stood out with 180 and an 85 finish.

Sun's hot form keeps them title

With three matches to play, Sun Inn have retained the York Unique-Phoenix League division one championship after back-to-back wins over Acomb SC.

A maximum for 14 plus 20 from Chris Thompson, and 180 and a 17 from Kev Walton steered Sun to a 9-0 win. This was backed by a 7-2 win, with Dave Gibbons notching a maximum for 19. Thompson (20 and 21), Walton 2 x 20) and Tony Cooper (20) secured the title.

The battle for the runners-up spot saw Shepherds demolish Bishopthorpe, with Mick Willsden including a 101 finish for a superb 15-darter. Well backed by Heath Scaife (180 for 19) and Paul Botterill (137 for 21), who completed the rout.

Cygnet 'A' had Pete Leake (180) out in magnificent legs of 14 and 16 and Kev O'Hara (89 bull finish and 98 finish) to give them an 8-1 win at Phoenix 'A'.

Dave Binks (180 for 17) sealed a HSC 'A' victory over Slipper, whose Rob Platt and Phil Chapman both hit maximums. John Quantock (17) and Nick Harteveld (20) also did well for the club side.

A 16-darter from Glen Brown took Alice Hawthorn to the win against Rose & Crown. Jon O'Mara supported well with 20 and 180 with Mal Davey gaming in 21.

The best performance of the night came from Noel Cooper (Cygnet 'B') with a terrific 13-darter to inspire the leaders to an 8-1 win against Phoenix 'B'.

Flag ran up a 7-2 win at Sun Inn, with Steve Simpson hitting the tons.

Mike Clarvis guided HSC 'B' to victory at Boot & Shoe, with skipper Wendy Smith closing on 76. Dawn Jackson was best for Boot with a 177.
