YORK City Knights half-back Danny Brough's sublime display in the big win at Dewsbury on Sunday has won him the latest Arriva Trains Cup 'Man of the Round' title winner.
The Knights' scrum-half punished his former club by kicking nine goals and
touching down a brilliant individual try as York romped to a 58-16 win at
the Rams Stadium - which was deemed the outstanding performance of the third round by rugby league writers.
And to add to his 22-point individual haul, Brough also played a crucial
role in six of the Knights' ten tries.
Brough will be presented with his award when the Knights, of National League Two, entertain National League One big-guns Featherstone Rovers in an Arriva Trains Cup at Huntington Stadium on Sunday, March 7.
Tony Hargrave, York-based Arriva Trains Northern advertising and
promotions manager said: "Danny's impressive 22-point haul made a significant contribution to the Knight's victory and his outstanding performance made him perfect candidate for this accolade."
Knights chief executive Steve Ferres said: "Danny has been playing
consistently well all season and thoroughly deserves this award.
"Against the Rams Danny and his half-back partner, Scott Rhodes, both played well but Danny shaded it with a great display against his home-town club."
