Ripon Cathedral has bolstered its financial expertise with the installation of Chris Adams, a partner of accountancy firm Saffery Champness of Harrogate, as "Capitular Canon."
In a special ceremony, Chris was admitted and licensed as Capitular Canon, becoming a member of the cathedral chapter which is responsible for the running of the cathedral.
His financial knowledge and experience will be used to help with the day-to-day running of the ancient building, parts of which date back to the 7th century.
In accepting the post, Chris has made an oath of observance, been presented with a copy of cathedral statutes, received a gown bearing the cathedral crest and has his own stall in the cathedral chancel. He said: "I am looking forward to making a contribution to the cathedral, both in terms of financial expertise and my general contribution to the cathedral chapter."
