LEEDS United will consult John Charles' widow Glenda and the family before deciding how to commemorate 'Big John's' career.
Calls were made over the weekend to re-name Elland Road's West Stand following the former Leeds and Wales hero's death in the early hours of Saturday.
The stand was burned down in a fire in 1956 and a new West Stand was partly funded by Charles' then world record £65,000 transfer to Juventus in 1957 and partly through public subscription.
A Leeds spokesman said last night: "It is too soon after John's death to say what form a memorial will take but re-naming the West Stand is one option that has been mentioned.
"John's huge popularity, during his playing days and since, is reflected in the countless messages of sympathy and tributes that have poured in.
"We already have a statue of Billy Bremner outside the ground and the North Stand is named after Don Revie, but we shall be consulting Glenda and the family before deciding how to make a lasting tribute to the great man."
Charles, who was 72, died in Pinderfields Hospital, Wakefield, after being flown home from Italy where he collapsed in January at a television studio.
