Selby lost their Yorkshire One relegation battle 25-24 at Old Brodleians, where they had won only once in their last seven visits.

After the home side had gone 7-0 ahead Selby levelled when Phil Raffan touched down near the posts in the 16th minute and Pemberton converted.

Selby took the lead in the 31st minute with a try near the posts by centre Shaun Austerfield, Pemberton concerting.

Number 8 Jamie Pocklington (injured ribs) was unable to start the second half half and was replaced by John Hick.

Brodleians scored a converted try in the first minute of the second half and then went ahead with an unconverted try.

Brodleians number 8 Phil Horton was sent off for punching Selby flanker Dave Christison before Selby prop Mark Tomlinson went over for an unconverted try.

A penalty put Brodleians back into the lead and Selby went down to ten men in the 67th minute when Tom Bayston, who had replaced hooker Shane Sellers, was yellow carded for deliberate offside.

Brodleians went further ahead with a penalty in the 74th minute. In the fifth minute of added time Selby's Duncan Phillips got a pushover try between the posts and touchline, but Pemberton's kick for victory went wide.
