York City this afternoon transfered Jon Parkin to Third Division rivals Macclesfield Town.
No fee was involved, but City will get a third of any sell-on money should he leave the Cheshire club with whom he has signed an 18-month contract.
It is understood that Parkin was one of the higher earners at Bootham Crescent, and as City faced losing him at the end of the season when his current contract expires they agreed to the move.
The deal will reduce the current wage bill and go some way to helping City's cash troubles after this week announcing they faced a £60,000 bill for work done on the ill-fated proposed move to Huntington Stadium.
Barnsley born Parkin had been out of favour in recent weeks and had not started a senior game since the 2-1 defeat at Northampton on January 17.
