HOW fortunate that Chris Titley has drawn our attention to the valuable contribution made by JB Morrell to the debate on the future of our city ('Blueprint for a better city', February 16).
Developers are so anxious to demolish Morrell's former home in Burton Stone Lane that not only have they appealed against the council's refusal of their initial application to do so, they have now submitted yet another one with a "revised scheme", which still involves its demise.
Such a ruthless pursuit of profit at all costs is in distinct contrast to all that JB believed in.
Anyone concerned about this should write to the Assistant Director of Planning, 9 St Leonard's Place, York Y01 7ET, quoting reference no 04/002255, to object to this proposal.
Philip Crowe,
Clifton, York.
