THE debut novel of Cecelia Ahern, daughter of Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern, is a moving depiction of grief.
Holly Kennedy is struggling to cope with her husband Gerry's death from a brain tumour when she discovers that he left her a pile of envelopes, each containing a monthly task she must complete to get her life back on track.
With the help of Gerry's posthumous messages, which issue her personal challenges from singing karaoke to finding a job, Holly begins to realise life does carry on without him.
Set in modern-day Dublin, PS, I Love You celebrates the importance of female friendship and close family relationships.
If you like tearjerkers, this is the book for you, although at times Ahern's writing is clumsy, clichd and predictable.
For some easy-reading as you curl up beside the fire, you could do worse than this romantic and heart-warming story. Just don't forget the tissues.
