An imaginative charity scheme adopted two years ago by an award-winning York firm has resulted in all-year-round fundraising for the NSPCC.
For every new display installed by Dodsworth, the plant display people, the firm donates £1 to its adopted charity, the NSPCC.
Over Christmas, £5 is donated for every Christmas tree display installed.
From a base at Helperby, the Dodsworth team installs indoor living plant displays in offices and business premises across the UK.
The firm, which won the Progress Through People title in the 2003 Evening Press Business of the Year Awards, began its NSPCC fundraising scheme two years ago and the 2003 contribution - a cheque for £2,671 - was presented to NSPCC regional director, John Hinman, by Martin Carrigan and Adam Potter, members of the Dodsworth team.
Managing director, Julie Dodsworth, said: "We have weekly team meetings where we share experiences and ideas.
"This has also become a forum for generating new ideas and we just felt that linking into something we do every day as a matter of course would be a fantastic way of supporting the NSPCC every day."
Dodsworth was established in 1990 by Julie and Simon Dodsworth and a nine-strong team now installs creative indoor living plant displays to business premises nationwide.
The Dodsworth customer portfolio comprises offices, practices and high street stores as well as larger business and sporting complexes including the BBC and Newcastle United Football Club.
