FOLLOW the Tinklers at Hereford tomorrow. Smart Savannah, who goes for the Western Daily Press Handicap Hurdle, represents trainer Colin Tinkler and his jockey-son Andrew, who is making tremendous strides this season.
Tinkler snr, formerly based in Malton, returned from a two-year stint in Spain in November to take over George Ward's Compton establishment in Berkshire and has had several winners since.
Smart Savannah could be another. Off the track all last season, the previously promising eight-year-old made an encouraging return to action at Taunton last month to finish second to the favourite Vanormix.
With that outing under his belt likely to have proved beneficial, Smart Savannah can go one better tomorrow and spark a Tinkler family celebration.
No More Money merits respect in the EBF/Crandon Park Stud Novices' Hurdle (Qualifier).
Trained by Henrietta Knight, the six-year-old has shown signs of ability in bumpers and is open to improvement now that she tackles hurdles. She certainly has the pedigree for the jumping game, being a half-sister to Grand National winner Red Marauder and Red Striker, a useful handicapper.
James Davies is impressing many good judges as an up-and-coming rider and the son of former Grand National-winning jockey Hwyel Davies, can lift the Admag Newspapers Handicap Chase on The Leader.
A consistent type, The Leader lived up to his name at Towcester in December and has since finished a creditable third at Plumpton. He should make a bold show.
Recent winner Adalie, who lines-up for the Brains Bitter Novices' Chase, is another to note at Hereford.
Tomorrow's nap vote is awarded to Galley Law in the Bet Direct Banded Stakes at Southwell.
The four-year-old has produced two respectable efforts in defeat this season and is fancied to make it third-time-lucky in this modest 11-furlong affair. Tom Eaves, good value for his 5lb claim, takes the mount on Ray Craggs' charge.
Stillington trainer David Chapman, on the mark in the big race at Wolverhampton yesterday with Quito, his Ayr Gold Cup hero, can keep up his winning run with Redoubtable in the Bet Direct Football Cashbacks Banded Stakes.
A veteran performer, having recently celebrated his 13th birthday, Redoubtable belied his veteran status when winning over this course-and-distance earlier in the month. He can show his juniors a clean pair of heels once more.
