LOCAL teams Pocklington and York have suffered mixed fortunes in recent weeks.

Pocklington have bounced back from their crushing first round National Shield exit to Plymouth with a 100 per cent win tally since.

All four Yorkshire Premier League games have ended in a win, the first coming at Huddersfield University in a 3-0 whitewash.

A double over Menwith Hill Ladies followed soon after with the York-based side not dropping a set in the process.

A controversial match at Leeds wrapped up Pock's sparkling January form when they were granted maximum points by virtue of scoring the most points. The hotly contested match against last year's champions Leeds ended 2-2 in sets when the game ran out of court-time, Pocklington earning the win with a better points-scored total.

York gave National Division Two side East Solent a fright in the second round of the National Shield as they were just five points short of the mark in each set.

But league affairs have not been running as smoothly with a straight sets home defeat to Leeds.

York and Pocklington will go head-to-head in what promises to be a full-blooded derby on Tuesday at the Oaklands Sports Centre.

A win for Pocklington would set them in good stead for the league title with just one defeat in eight games. York, meanwhile, would love to transform their win earlier in the season into a double.

Tip-off is 8pm.
