JUST less than a year ago I stood outside Bootham Crescent as hundreds of York City fans threw money into buckets in a last ditch, and ultimately successful, attempt to save their football club.
It was an extremely emotional occasion as I saw old ladies arrive with money from their savings and children giving their pocket money for weeks ahead. Many people, including myself, shed a tear or two that day.
If those old people and children had been mugged on their way to the ground and their money stolen there would rightly have been an outcry.
Imagine my dismay on reading about the Employment Tribunal in Leeds when former City boss Terry Dolan was awarded £1,300 in bonuses for this season's results, towards which he has contributed nothing.
I accept that he is legally entitled to this money. He knows full well, however, where the money he has been awarded came from and the intentions of the people by whom it was donated.
Personally speaking I have the same respect for Terry Dolan as I would have had if he had personally mugged those York City supporters.
