Challenge Trophy holders Nestl Rowntree have been bundled out of the competition by visiting second division leaders Blacksmiths Arms in one of the shocks of the season.

Steve Haddon gave the underdogs a dream start in the first minute and they then took a two-goal lead through Michael Fox just three minutes before the interval.

Rowntree marksman Matty Wain (pictured left) halved the deficit from a free-kick right on half time.

The hosts created several chances in the second period but were unable to convert any thanks to resolute defending by the visitors and Haddon sewed things up with his second on the stroke of full time.

Blacksmiths' fellow division two club Bridge Colts went down 2-1 at home to Selby Olympia WMC.

Burgess got Colts' goal but Ginty and Harkin booked Selby's semi-final spot.

Nestl Flag went down by the same score at home to Derwent United, despite taking a first half lead through Simon Gatenby.

Cass equalised and after Flag were reduced to nine men Bradshaw converted a penalty for the visitors.

Three first half goals from Young, Ford and Barlow set Marcia on the road to a 4-1 win at Volunteer Arms, Young adding his second in the second half with Freer netting a consolation.

Second half goals from Bryan and Charlton produced the shock of round three in the Mecca Trophy for fourth division Shoulder of Mutton as they beat third division opposition Turpin FC 2-0.

Firkin 103, from division six, held a 2-1 half-time lead thanks to a brace from Gladwin against Fulford for whom Simpson was on the mark.

But third division Fulford took control with goals from Joe Smart, Ben Smart, Gomm and Atkins to run out 5-2 winners.

F1 Racing, also of division six, held Hambleton to 2-2 at the break but the turning-point came when they missed a penalty that would have levelled matters at 4-4.

Hambleton took their opportunity and three goals in the last five minutes sealed a flattering 9-3 win, Croad hitting three and Parker two goals.

Albion Vaults secured their place in the quarter-finals with a 5-2 win over fellow division six side Swans.

The game was as good as over by half-time as Lee Ward struck three times to add to Simon White's opener. Ward added his fourth in the second half with Mandy and Dutton bringing some respectability to the score.

Hemingbrough travelled to Barlby and came away with a fine 1-0 win thanks to a superb strike from Teale after 35 minutes.
