TRAINING opportunities for York businesses are set to increase thanks to a major firm in the city.
British Sugar's Business Training Centre is to open its doors to businesses in the York area.
British Sugar already has Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) approved trainers on site to supply in-house Food Safety training. Now these trainers are available to local industry at the training centre on the company's factory site in Boroughbridge Road, York.
At first only Food Safety training will be available, but in the next few months it is hoped courses including Stress Awareness and Foundation in Environmental Awareness will be offered as well.
The training will be carried out by British Sugar technicians and managers alongside a consultant.
Ian Humphreys, of British Sugar, said: "As this sort of facility does not readily exist on York's doorstep - it is hoped that local business will benefit and the venture will provide a small additional revenue stream for the factory."
