IN response to your article 'Cheap childcare boost for workers' (January 15), we wish to remind Jane Sachedina and the Clifton Moor Association that although there is only one nursery at Clifton Moor it is actually served by six local private day nurseries.
The Employers Childcare Network could subsidise places in these nurseries rather than setting up in competition and putting smaller nurseries out of business.
The cost of a quality full-time place in our nursery costs only £5,500 a year.
According to an Early Years Development Workers's comments last year, York is practically saturated with nurseries.
