I WAS saddened to hear of the death of Muriel Potter, a former housing inspector for the city council.
Her main role was to inspect council property yearly and check to see all was well. When tenants knew she was coming they would be cleaning and tidying up all round.
It was panic stations for those who did not meet the targets set for her visit.
But her job no longer exists. Muriel Potter was always polite and explained she was responsible for standards of housing and how they need to be looked after.
What a shame these same standards are not applied these days.
