The weather put paid to all but a dozen York John Smith's Sunday League games at the weekend but those still had a bearing on the various divisional promotion and relegation issues.

Derwent United followed up last week's draw with division one champions Nestl Rowntree with an equally gratifying point at home to title challengers Marcia.

Strickland gave Derwent a first-half lead but they were denied all the points by a second-half strike by Mark Ford.

Division two contenders Nestl Flag and Blacksmiths Arms met at Mille Crux where the visitors put themselves back on top with a 4-1 victory courtesy of goals from Hinds (2), Newton and Heels.

Shipton's improved form continued with a 5-0 win over Five Lions in the bottom-of-the-table clash.

West and Blake each bagged a brace and Chapman got the other as they climbed off the bottom for the first time since September.

Emmett and Garner got the goals as Thorpe United beat Deramore Arms 2-1, Anthony Luck the scorer for Deramore.

Three goals inside three first-half minutes from Smart, Thompson and Gomm saw Fulford take an unassailable lead at Inland Revenue with Smart adding a fourth in the second period.

Hambleton moved back to the top of division four with a 6-3 win at home to Shoulder of Mutton. Croad was again the star as he hit four to add to strikes from Abell and Farrar, with Charlton (2) and Surgenor on target for the visitors.

In division five, credit must be given to Kingsway Riders, whose hard toil enabled their game with Enterprise to go ahead.

It looked like it may have been in vain as Goggin opened the scoring for Enterprise with a 20-yard screamer. But resolute defending by the hosts kept them in the game and it was just reward for their efforts when Baxter levelled. They almost snatched it at the death when only a fine one-handed save by Turner ensured honours ended even.

Green Vale Rangers kept their unbeaten run in division six going with a well earned 1-1 draw at Quaker Wood. Ian Hufton gave the visitors the lead on 15 minutes with a deflected shot, Ian Wrigglesworth levelling after 35.

Wanderers started brightly against Edinburgh Arms and went 1-0 up through Michael Cammidge on the half-hour. James Kennedy levelled from the spot with 20 minutes remaining and, after Cammidge added his second to put Wanderers back in front with ten minutes left, was on hand again three minutes from time to give the Arms a share of the spoils.
