A YORK sports club is "going under" due to the actions of a big local firm - and club members couldn't be happier.
Sub-aqua club Excalibur has received a sea-chest of treasure from Nestl to help its members explore underwater worlds.
The city-based club, which has about 50 members, relies on membership fees to keep afloat - and under the waves - so the grant of £300 from the company's Volunteer Award Grant Scheme is a welcome boost.
Nestl scientist Ruth Fergyson handed the gift to club chairman Martin Stephenson, a presentation which was made underwater at York's Edmund Wilson Pool.
Ruth has dived with the club for three years, and as club secretary applied for the grant, which is open to all Nestl employees who give up their free time to work with local clubs or community groups.
Excalibur members dive all over the world. During the winter they meet each Sunday at the Edmund Wilson Pool.
