AN INTERIOR design shop is hoping to raise £1,000 for York Against Cancer by selling expensive fabric books at bargain prices.
Plaskitt & Plaskitt, in Monkgate, York, is undergoing a major refit and, to make way for new ranges, it is selling off showroom contents at half price. More than 200 fabric pattern books are to be sold at £5 each in aid of York Against Cancer. Some of the books cost more than £100 each and are ideal for patch work, cushions or artists.
Proprietor Joy Plaskitt said: "We support York Against Cancer as Joss Pateman, our window dresser for the past 16 years, has made a fantastic recovery from breast cancer, and Joss is now on their fundraising committee."
The store's refurbishment will an attempt to keep up with the move to more contemporary interiors, and Plaskitt & Plaskitt will be joining forces with cabinet maker Peter Thompson, of York, and Gillygate lighting and accessories shop, Snowhome, to offer a full interior design showcase.
The fabric book sale starts on Saturday.
