On The Luce, who returned to winning form at Newcastle two weeks ago, can further underline his well-being by following-up at Kelso tomorrow.
One of only a handful of horses trained by top point-to-point rider Pauline Robson in Northumberland, the seven-year-old goes for the Kelso Members' Handicap Chase, with Richard McGrath again taking the mount.
Winner of a point-to-point last year, On The Luce has made a solid transition to the professional game this season, his five-lengths Newcastle success over three miles coming after two creditable efforts in defeat over shorter distances.
An 8lb rise in the weights for his latest win does not look excessive and Nap selection On The Luce can prove he is on the rise by scoring again.
The £12,000 Persimmon Homes Handicap Chase takes pride of place at Kelso and Curly Spencer, trained by Andrew Parker, can initiate a double for McGrath by clinching the prize.
Fresh from a solid effort at Wetherby, where he finished a close-up fourth to the progressive Cruise Leader, Curly Spencer should be spot-on for this event, and will be particularly well suited by the forecast of heavy ground.
Colorado Falls makes plenty of appeal in the Back And Lay At GGBet.com Handicap Hurdle.
A winner on his hurdling debut at Cartmel last season, the former Henry Cecil-trained gelding subsequently ran well on the Flat for new handler Peter Monteith.
A fair third to the high-class Chivalry on his return to hurdling here last month, Colorado Falls can clinch this handicap under Paddy Aspell.
Monteith, who has an excellent record on this course, has another good chance of collecting with Encore Cadoudal, also to be ridden by Aspell, in the Andrew Hamilton & Co. Novices' Hurdle over two miles.
The six-year-old won over this course-and-distance on his latest start, three weeks ago.
With Towcester having fallen victim to waterlogging, tomorrow's only other meeting is at Southwell, where the newly-founded partnership of Richard Fahey and Tony Hamilton can reap further rewards.
Hamilton, who recently joined Fahey from Norton-based Brian Ellison, has already ridden a couple of winners for his new Malton boss, including one on Mr Pertemps, who provides him with another sound chance in the Bet Direct On Sky Active Handicap.
The six-year-old was most recently successful at Wolverhampton, but he was also a winner on this course last season. He should take plenty of beating in this six-furlongs dash.
Sir Mark Prescott's bold initiative with Fall In Line sees the four-year-old on course for yet another race in the Press Interactive To Bet Direct Handicap.
Prescott completed a rapid hat-trick with Fall In Line last week and placed him to win again at Southwell yesterday.
Pencilled-in for a trip to Lingfield today, the gelding then has the option of returning to Southwell tomorrow. If everything goes to plan, the Prescott magic could work the oracle in making Fall In Line a six-times winner by tomorrow evening.
Tomorrow's Towcester race meeting has been abandoned as was this afternoon's meeting at Leicester. Both courses are waterlogged. Today's Newcastle races went ahead after a dry night kept to course suitable for action.
Thursday's tips:
