The most notable casualty to the weekend's flooded conditions was the Acomb Tackle-backed York and District Winter League.
Saturday's Riverside Financial Services/Hirst Tackle 74-peg open on the Ouse around Linton was the only river match to survive in Yorkshire, but only just.
The river was four feet above normal level and continued to rise throughout the contest. By the following morning every river in the county was in the fields. Paul Bennett (Waterline Wibsey) led from peg 42 at Widdington with 2lb 4oz.
Offering lob worm in a near-side slack, he tempted a quartet of roach.
A single perch of 2lbs plus a tiny roach, both taken on pole and pinkie at Hunters Lodge peg 226 were enough to secure second place for Mick Harrison (Waterline Wibsey) with 2lb 1oz. Jim Jordan (Union) and Dave Pollit (Hirst Tackle) both had three roach on the lob for a share of third spot with 1lb 6oz. Others: Martyn Highe (Hirst Tackle) 1-5-0; Ian Bowman (Maver Barnsley) 1-4-0.
Another excellent contest on Cedar Lake at the Oaks saw over 20lb needed to top every section.
Gary Pawlett (Oaks) headed a star-studded 74-entry from peg 26.
Fishing maggot over pellets to the island and down the track, he netted scores of small carp for his 44lb 5oz.
Andy Middleton (Oaks) was on peg 61, where he took carp to 2lb fishing maggots over pellet at eight metres for his level 38lb.
Others: Dave Glover (Bob.Co) 36-8-0; Jamie Clay (Otley) 35-9-0; Stef Armitage (Team Glum) 35-6-0; Andy Purvis (Bob.Co/Oaks) 31-10-0.
Weights were spread around the Woodlands complex on Sunday with the 87-entry open being fished on all the match lakes.
Martin Craig (Big Waters) scored an easy win from peg 28 on Skylark with an impressive 55lb 3oz. Fishing bomb and corn to the middle of the lake, he netted quality carp to 8lb.
Jim Cowgill (Elton Tackle) was on corner peg 19 on Mallard, where he alternated between a bomb to the aerator and pole to the corner with corn and maggots for an all-carp net of 32lb 6oz. Kevin Bell (Wetherby Social Club) took third spot from nearby Mallard 17 with a 28lb 4oz net of carp taken on a bomb with corn and maggot fished to the gap between the islands.
Others: Bill Blythe (Newman Scotts) 28-0-0; Chris Gowling (Shimano Quaker Match Group) 26-11-0; Paul Todd (Elton Tackle) 23-2-0.
Carpvale, Cyprio and match pools, 34.
Dave Maddison (York) 38-11-0, carp to 7lb on feeder and pole with corn from peg 12; Steve Sharples (Leeds) 23-8-0; Pete Brocklehurst (Bury) 22-8-0; Sean Rogers (Leeds) 19-10-0.
