With both York City and York City Ladies' fixtures postponed at the weekend because of wet weather, City Ladies Reserves flew the flag with a 7-0 Yorkshire and Humberside League Division One East win at Dearne Valley in the fourth match between the sides this season.
Although the pitch was in bad condition it didn't affect City's passing game and they created numerous chances .
York soon scored their first goal, a neat lob from the edge of the area by Nic Whelan.
The second goal followed shortly after, young striker Nat Taylor getting her third in three games and fifth of the season. Taylor then won a penalty, which skipper Kate Jackson slotted away for City's third goal. Just before half time, Leanne Hawksby made it 4-0 with a close-range effort.
City continued attacking in the second half. The fifth goal came from winger Nicky Booth after a well-worked corner from Whelan and Jackson.
Jackson added her second with a pin-point shot curled into the top corner, taking her tally for the season to 12.
City's final goal was
scored by Whelan, with another well-placed shot from the edge of the area.
Player of the match was reliable midfielder Jo Somers.
The Reserves travel to Scunthorpe next Sunday for their final league game of the season, seeking to avenge United's 4-2 victory on Knavesmire in November.
City Ladies' first team continue their Yorkshire and Humberside League Premier Division title challenge with a trip to Huddersfield, the first of six remaining league fixtures before their County Cup clash against Scarborough at the McCain stadium on March 21.
