REGARDING the proposed land acquisition for Campus 2 and a lake on Field Lane, Heslington, York, do they really need another lake?
And do they need the existing lake? The simple solution is to drain and fill in the lake on Campus 1 and build on the land reclaimed.
If sufficient halls of residence are built on site to take the expected increase of students, this would help the environment.
They would save on new roads, transportation and congestion in an already overcrowded village and its surrounding areas.
It is the University of York's policy not to provide any more car parking spaces, even though the number of students has increased annually.
