MUSICIAN Susie Fox, a familiar face at music sessions in York and beyond, is busy promoting her first album.
The 13 tracks on Afterwards include traditional songs such as John Riley, poems by Emily Bronte set to music, plus original songs.
She plays all the instruments featured, including six and 12-string guitars, tenor, treble and descant recorders, clarinet and bodhran.
Susie said the CD was the culmination of six years of learning about folk. She said: "Having started a career in classical music, with medieval music a great influence, it was a leap into the unknown when I started playing and singing at one of the 'anything goes' evenings held in pubs in York. I quickly realised that my repertoire of one song - East Virginia learnt from a Joan Baez tape - would have to expand very quickly."
Susie, of Melrosegate, York, recorded the CD at Pig Hut Studios, Acaster Lane, York. Her next performance will be at York's Black Swan Folk Club, on Thursday, supporting Nancy Kerr and James Fagan.
Afterwards, price £7 (plus £1 postage and packing), is available at gigs or from Susie Fox, 195 Melrosegate, York YO10 3SX.
