I AGREE entirely with Geoff Robb's comments (Letters, November 24). I understand that we supposedly have a civilian organisation patrolling the village, but where are they?
It is time the parish council looked at the possibility of having a dedicated village policeman supported by a levy on the parish rates, and supplied with a house.
He could also be responsible for possibly Murton, Holtby and Warthill subject to an agreed funding arrangement.
If my proposals came to pass the amount paid by the villages to the police for there (non) services should be reduced which would offset the levy on the parish rates.

...I WISH to add to your remarks in your comment column 'Where were the police?' (November 21).
It seems local burglars, no-gooders etc just have to wait until there is a big sporting occasion or two then they stand a much better chance of success.
What is going to happen when Ascot comes here in 2005?
