I WRITE in response to your report on the Christmas lights switch on in York (November 28).
Flattering comments were made on the performances of York's two pop academy stars. However, I could not find any reference at all to the children's choir which closed the event.
Given the fact that the "headliners" had received professional assistance from two top TV channels, I was disappointed by their live stage show.
The children's choir, however, gave a remarkably polished performance given their age and lack of exposure to such a large crowd.
I understand you wishing to support local singers who have made good on national TV, but the local community would have benefited more if the choir had received a few words of praise and encouragement.
