I WOULD like to know how we can afford three types of law enforcement agencies ("Changes may hit funding for police", November 17).
Mayfair security, community support officers and regular police - and it would appear more finance is needed. What on earth is going on? It's getting silly, and what's needed is a common sense approach to it all.
Can we not have a regular police force for this city, instead of agencies that would be far better protecting factory and industrial sites and leave housing developments to those who have the full protection of the law?
It could well be in the future the Home Secretary could deregulate law and order to the private sector. Until that day arrives let's have our regular police only. Please.
