POCKLINGTON suffered an agonising defeat at Yorkshire Three leaders Castleford.
The Percy Roaders led from the third minute to the 83rd minute only to see Castleford steal it 19-15 with the last play of the game.
Pocklington went straight in to the attack and scored an excellent early try when the forwards drove the right then the ball was swung along the back for Charlie Allen to chip in to the corner, where Fergus Purtill dived over.
Pocklington remained in control and added a second try when Allen broke down the left and flipped a pass inside to flanker Steve Wilcock.
Castleford had hardly had a look-in by with their first real attack, their backs, which included York City Knights RL Club acquisition Damien Ball, ved it wide to score in the corner.
Back came Pocklington and they produced an unstoppable rolling maul from a line out, finished by openside Scott Littlefair.
But in the last minute of the first half Pock were caught napping from a quick tap penalty and Castleford went under the posts after a converted try.
Pocklington again dominated the first half hour of the second half but were unable to turn pressure in to points.
The wicked cross-field wind made goal kicking a lottery and Pocklington were unable to convert any of their six shots at goal.
They also lost he ball going for the line and in the last ten minutes Castleford turned the tables and took play down to the other end.
Desperate Pocklington defence kept them out until the very end when Castleford again broke through from a tap penalty and converted to the sound of the final whistle.
Pockington held a fund-raising dinner for Cancer Research at the Londesborough Arms, market Weighton, last night, which raised £4,000.
Half of the money came from the auction of a Jonny Wilkinson signed England shirt.
