I WRITE in response to your report about Laurens Manor Nursing Home ('Out in the cold', November 24).
"Home From Home" it says on the sign. Tony and Sue are very caring people who run a wonderful care home with lovely staff and great cooks. I know because my mum lived in for two and a half years.
Why do we have to go to war when we are not helping our own people?
Twenty three residents have to be found new homes in the next three weeks. How many more homes will close and what will happen to the next generation? Does someone at the council know something we don't?

...I WISH to comment on the report about yet another closure of an old peoples' home. The owner is right to say he has been overwhelmed with red-tape, also Government legislations in general and council contempt.
He must have been doing a good job to have a woman there of 100 years old whose son is now worried. The woman in your photograph with the Alzheimer's disease also underlines the fact that the hassle of it all is so bad for her condition.
Many old people seem to be contracting this disease but where can they go?
Mrs M Lloyd,
Ouse Lea,
Clifton, York.
