YORK Cricket Club members picked up three awards at the recent annual dinner of the Yorkshire ECB Premier League.
Head groundsman Steve Machen collected a silver salver as the Groundman of the Year voted by visiting captains.
Opening bat Stephen Piercy received the John Herbert Memorial Cup as the outstanding Under 21 player in the league.
In addition to scoring more than 700 runs, Piercy captained the league Under-21 side to win the White Rose Trophy contested by all the main leagues in the county.
John Herbert, who died last year, will be remembered widely in local cricket and hockey circles.
Dan Broadbent was awarded the U21 league bowling cup for his haul of 51 wickets. Off-spinner Broadbent, a contracted Yorkshire player, leaves in the New Year as a member of the England squad for the U19 World Cup in Bangladesh.
It is the club's annual general meeting at Clifton Park on Thursday, December 4 (8pm) when skipper Nigel Durham stands down after leading the club for four seasons.
