A WINDOW cleaner has been scarred for life after his face was slashed by a knife-wielding thug.
Jason Millard, 22, of Hawling Road, Market Weighton, was walking home along his street when he was attacked by two youths.
He felt two blows to the back of his head and fell to the floor. As he lay on the ground he was kicked several times by the teenagers.
One of the youths, aged between 17 and 19, then slashed his face with a craft knife, leaving a five inch wound from his temple to his lip.
The robbers then demanded money and escaped with a quantity of cash along Hawling Road.
Mr Millard was taken to York Hospital by ambulance and given 18 stitches to his face.
"I'm definitely scarred for life and my cheek is still really hurting. I was really shocked, I've lived in Market Weighton for three or four years and you don't hear of that kind of thing happening here." Mr Millard said.
"Now when I am walking home, I'm always looking behind me."
The attack also left him with a lump on the back of his head and he suffered a severe headache after the robbery.
He said that before the youths had struck him he had not suspected he would become the victim of a street robbery.
"I hadn't taken one little bit of notice of them. You don't expect something like that."
Humberside Police are searching for witnesses to the robbery which happened at 3.55pm on Friday. The first youth was 6ft 1in tall, white, of proportionate build, with a slim face and prominent cheekbones. He is described as having sharp features.
He was wearing a white Nike baseball cap and a blue padded jacket. The second youth was described as being smaller.
Anyone with information should phone Pocklington police on 01759 302174.
