THANK you once again for your support in our campaign to make the roads in Skelton safer.
Unfortunately City of York Council's planning and transport (east area) committee turned down our application once again.
Rather than introduce the 40mph limit where it is needed they are in favour of a more city-wide look at all the similar areas before committing themselves. In other words, let's put it off for another few years.
I am also disappointed that the major issue of cutting speeds on the A19 to help prevent more accidents was referred to the transport and planning unit for funding applications when a proposal to spend the £2,500 - the cost put forward by the council officer - on some form of measures now and to look further into the situation later was ignored.
What price a life?
Phill Thomas,
Councillor,
Skelton Parish Council,
Brecksfields,
Skelton, York.
