A YORK sixth-former has been commended for her charity work.
Jenny Anderton, 17, from The Mount School was given the Philip Harris Trophy for the York Young Ambassador of the 21st Century Award from York Lions.
President of York Lions, Peter Jesse and Lions youth chairman Helen Clarkson, visited the school yesterday to present Jenny with the award and a £50 book token.
Jenny who spends a great deal of her time helping at local charity, SNAPPY, was declared the winner of the York award at the judging held at the York Novotel last month.
Jenny now goes forward to the Yorkshire county round, and if successful there, to the national final where she could win £1,500.
Two other Mount pupils, Emma Cole and Sandy Emmerson, were highly commended for their community work.
The trophy was named in honour of York Lion, Philip Harris who died recently aged 90 after many years service to The Lions.
