NOMINATIONS are being sought for the Teaching Awards 2004.
Parents, pupils and colleagues can make nominations for the ten categories, from outstanding new teacher, to lifetime achievement award.
Regional winners will be awarded a prize package of cash and ICT equipment worth £3,000 for their school and national winners take back a prize package worth over £25,000 of cash, ICT equipment and professional development courses to their schools.
Chris Tipple, regional awards panel chairman for the North East, said "The Teaching Awards recognise the commitment and hard work carried out daily by teachers and teaching assistants in our area.
"As regional chairman, I want to encourage as many local schools as possible to participate in this year's awards.
"This is our opportunity to highlight the excellent practice within our schools and give pupils and parents the chance to thank those inspiring individuals who have changed their lives."
Last year Paul Keogh, from Kings James School, in Knaresborough, won the national award for teacher of the year in a secondary school.
