A NORTH Yorkshire school has scooped a top award for use of technology.

King James School in Knaresborough, which is a specialist technology college, has been given an award for a project involving the introduction of plasma screens throughout the school.

The screens show video footage made by pupils about school activities. The project has gained the school the Research Machines award at the Specialist Schools Trust's National Conference.

Head teacher Dr David Hudson said: "We went ahead with this because it was recognised that there was little or no interaction between the various year groups - Year Eight pupils know nothing about what is going on in Year 10 and vice versa, for example."
