Selby Warriors climbed to fourth in Pennine League division five with a 60-22 hammering of lowly West Bowling 'B'.
The Warriors, beaten only once this season in the league, leapfrogged local rivals York Groves, who were not in action, on points difference in the table and, with several games in hand on the teams above them, could be in line for a promotion charge.
Leaders York Acorn 'A' shook off the loss of several players to become the first team to register their eighth win in nine games when grinding out a 12-10 success at third-placed Undercliffe.
Acorn trailed 10-6 at the break but stuck to their task to win late on. In veteran prop Gary Taylor, they had the best forward on the park and he received excellent support from try-scorer and fellow prop Ben Hodgson and centre Martin Simpson. Stand-off Tom Galloway kicked the Blue and Golds to victory with four goals.
Spirited show
New Earswick All Blacks Under-16s showed great spirit when losing 16-0 at league leaders and national champions Embassy Longhill, who boast five Great Britain junior players.
All Blacks were the only team this season to hold Embassy below 20 points and the home coach said they were the best team they had played this year.
All Blacks at times put the pressure on but lacked the support to capitalise on the few chances that came their way.
Man of the match was Jason Payne for his strong running, followed by Liam Gargan.
Heworth tops
UNDER-15s derby spoils went to Elm Park Way as Heworth beat local rivals York Acorn 18-8.
Defences dominated before Heworth gained control with two tries and one conversion from Chris Peace and a penalty from Ben Potter. The second half saw Acorn throw everything at Heworth and score two unconverted tries, but Heworth replied through Jamie Pallister and thereafter never looked like losing.
Notable Heworth performances came from skipper Gareth Watson, centres Peace and Sullivan and the tireless Eric Boldison.
Saints falling
New Earswick All Blacks under-12s dominated against Siegan Saints to win 14-4.
New boys Hayden Barber and Edward Clapham starred, with the latter notching a try, set up by two-try man of the match Matty Gell.
Kyle Lowson added a goal, while most improved player Josh Bellwood, Richmond, Lowson, Chaplin and top tackler Craig Richardson defended well.
Dazzling Dean
Errors could have cost New Earswick All Blacks U11s but their team spirit brought them through in a 50-16 win over Middleton.
Dean Layton shone throughout and scored a try, while Joel Johnson only played ten minutes due to illness but still scored two, yet it was hat-trick man Connor Thirlway who was man of the match.
Liam Dawson, Jake Mawer and Louis Pool also crossed, with Adam Johnson, Atkinson, Dawson, Joe Davidson, Pool, Layton and Thirlway adding goals.
Through the Mil
York Acorn U14s produced their worst display of the campaign when losing 52-10 at home to Milford Marlins.
The large Milford side were too powerful for a disorganised Acorn team, who played with little confidence. Adam Jones and Danny Birkitt crossed for Acorn, while Ross Varley added a conversion.
