THE Duke of York was today due to drop into a North Yorkshire air base.
Prince Andrew was to be greeted by Lord Crathorne, Lord Lieutenant of North Yorkshire, and station commander Group Captain David Harrison at the Royal Air Force base at Linton-on-Ouse.
Youngsters from Linton Ladybirds playgroup were also due to greet the Prince, before he attended the 207 Reserve Squadron Standard presentation parade.
After the presentation, the Prince was to meet service families and spectators before visiting the Officers' Mess.
The Linton-on-Ouse base is home to the No 1 flying school, the oldest military flying school in the world.
The 207 Reserve Squadron, based there, was reformed as a training squadron after being disbanded in 1984.
Its history dates back to the First World War. After flying as part of the V-Force in the 1950s and 60s, it became a communication squadron in 1965.
