A CONCERT is to be held in one of York's most unusual venues this year - the top floor of the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet.

Selby's Sing Youth and Children's Choirs will use the new venue for their popular Christmas Concert on December 7.

The choirs have previously staged concerts in the more traditional venues of Selby Abbey and Selby Town Hall, but now the growing number of audiences each year has meant they have had to seek a larger location.

The centre's food court will be transformed into a concert venue after the shopping centre closes at 5pm, with doors opening for the concert at 6.30pm. Chairman of Sing, Jay Commins, said: "We are absolutely delighted to be performing at McArthurGlen. We've been working together to make maximum use of their space, and their will be over 550 seats available on the night."

The children's choir and youth choir will be joined by the Bob Crossland Big Band for the festive celebration of traditional and contemporary Christmas music.
