POCKLINGTON and Walkington rugby union clubs have joined forces to form a new Under-13 team.
The team will play its first game at Percy Road tomorrow against Withernsea.
Pocklington and Walkington agreed to the amalgamation because both clubs had a group of boys wanting to play rugby at U13 level without having enough players for full sides.
Dave Nash, Pocklington's junior rugby chairman, said: "Pocklington has good sides at U14 and U12 age levels but we never had sufficient numbers to put out a U13 team. Similarly, Walkington had a nucleus of youngsters, but not enough for a full team.
"By putting the two groups together and recruiting a few newcomers we are hoping to develop a regular side."
The new team has been training under the guidance of Walkington's first XV coach Mike Noble. Any newcomers interested in joining are welcome to meet up at Percy Road, 10am, for an 11am kick off.
Players already travel from the Stamford Bridge, Pocklington, Market Weighton and Beverley areas so transport is available if required.

The new team is also yet to be named despite the original idea of playing one week as Pocklington and the next as Walkington and one suggestion of 'Porkington'.
