THE Golden Lion, in Church Street, York, is seeking applicants for its Turn of the Year acoustic music competition in January.
Musicians with original songs are asked to pick up an application form from the bar and return it to the pub by Christmas.
Entertainment manager Phil Gallagher says: "Only forty will be chosen, so get in there fast. We're looking for duos or solo artists aged 18 and over, and entrants must have original material or it's no go."
The final will be held around the time of St. Patrick's Day next March, and the winner will scoop several prizes, including a day in a state-of-the-art recording studio and gigs to the value of £300.
Last year's winner, Tommy Binks, has gone on to play a string of shows all over York.
