THE head teacher of Canon Lee School, Kevin Deadman, praised staff, pupils and parents for their "superb achievements" throughout the year, at the school's annual prizegiving ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony last week, Mr Deadman said the school's achievements had included improvement in value added progress in GCSE results, a School Achievement Award and recognition for work with inclusion.

He said the way forward was working alongside other schools, something which was already taking place.

This could be seen with the schools involvement in the Network Learning Community - a scheme to bring innovation through shared learning, along with the City of York 14 to 19 Pathfinder Initiative and the bid to become a specialist school for art.

He said the school remained committed to becoming a world-class leading organisation where students received the best possible education.
